ALOR STAR 19 Mei _ Bekas Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad hari ini mengumumkan keluar daripada UMNO. Menurutnya, surat rasmi mengenainya akan dihantar kepada Setiausaha Agung UMNO secepat mungkin.

Katanya, beliau akan berada di luar UMNO selagi Presiden UMNO, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi memimpin parti itu.

Beliau berkata demikian kepada pemberita selepas menyampaikan ucapan bertajuk `Kedudukan Orang Melayu Pasca Pilihan Raya Umum Ke-12’ di sini hari ini. – Utusan

KUALA LUMPUR 19 Mei – Timbalan Pengerusi DAP, Dr. Tan Seng Giaw terkejut dengan tindakan bekas Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad keluar daripada UMNO. Menurut Ahli Parlimen Kepong itu, beliau tidak faham mengapa Dr. Mahathir secara tiba-tiba mahu keluar UMNO.

“Apa sebab Dr. Mahathir mahu keluar dari UMNO. Apakah kerana masalah kepimpinan atau sebagainya. Kita pun tidak faham.

“Adakah Dr. Mahathir keluar UMNO kerana menganggap parti itu sudah tidak relevan lagi,’’ katanya. – Utusan
